The removal men arrived this morning and I am now living in a house full of boxes. I had planned to take the boys out and let the men pack in peace but Alex was sick from 8pm to 2am last night and Kieran started throwing up at 10.00 this morning. Not only did this mean we had to stay in but I've missed out on supper at Victoria's as I didn't think it fair to leave Emily looking after sick boys (although actually they're both asleep so she'd probably have been fine).
The packers are back tomorrow, when they'll be removing most of the stuff from the house but they're leaving the washing machine, tumble dryer and television until Monday so that's OK. It is good that I didn't have to cook macaroni cheese for the boys tonight though as the macaroni has been packed!
Paul is home tonight and will go out to France with Kieran on Sunday night so that they can be there when the removal van arrives. He picked up the key to the house yesterday so we can now order the fridge and new sofas and sort out the broadband! Emily, Alex and I will follow them on the overnight ferry on Monday, leaving the painters doing all the gloss-work, having new carpets put in the children's bedrooms and finally the cleaners will come in on Friday making it all ready for the tenants to move in on Saturday.
I can't quite believe I'm leaving the house where we've lived for the last 10 years and where my baby was born. Neither Emily nor Kieran can remember living anywhere else and it will be very emotional on Monday when I hand over the keys but I'm looking forward to a new chapter of our lives opening in France and the experiences that this will bring for all of us.
